The Golf In School Program is an initiative created by the Wisconsin PGA Junior Foundation as an effort to introduce the game of golf to middle and high-school students around the state.The aim is to provide instruction to the students while providing the P.E. teacher with the basic tools and lessons to teach an effective golf unit in the future.
How can I get involved?
We are always looking for current PGA members to teach in schools throughout Wisconsin.We have an online application on our website that can be filled out and returned.The application asks for the information of the school you would teach at including the contact at the school, class size, and dates you can teach.
Will there be any type of training?
Training sessions will be set up and once we receive your application we will contact you to set up a date and time for training
Do I get reimbursed for my time?
Members that teach an entire school day Monday through Friday will receive $1,000.$500 dollars will be given to members that teach a half day.
What is required of me while I teach?
In addition to providing basic golf instruction you will also discuss The First Tee’s Nine Core Values with the students.These life skills include: Respect, Integrity, Judgment, Responsibility, Courtesy, Sportsmanship, Honesty, Perseverance, and Confidence.Additionally, you will be given surveys that must be filled out by both the students and staff and returned to our office.Please Note: You will not receive payment until we receive the surveys.
Do I have to provide any equipment?
All equipment will be provided by the Wisconsin PGA Junior Foundation.Equipment includes Clubs (wedges, 6 irons, putters, and drivers), balls, and hitting mats.
